Researchers at a German university conducted an experiment on a cow to determine how much pain the animal experiences during slaughter (according to the Iranian/Islamic method). To this end, they monitored the cow's brain signals using EEG (electroencephalography) to see whether the animal felt pain, and if so, to what extent.
The cow was prepared for the experiment and then slaughtered.
For the first three seconds after slaughter, there was no change in the brain's electrical activity, indicating that the cow did not feel any pain during this time.
In the next three seconds, it was observed that the cow became unconscious and went into a deep sleep (coma-like state) due to severe blood flow and cessation of blood supply to the brain.
Six seconds later, the EEG showed that the brain's electrical activity had completely stopped, meaning the cow had died and did not feel any pain.
Now the question is, what was the result of this experiment?
We all see the blood flowing from the animal during slaughter and often wonder why the animal does not feel pain, although it seems to be in agony.
The fact is that in the Islamic method of slaughter, the respiratory tract, the esophagus and the major blood vessels are cut, while the spinal cord is not cut.
At this stage, the blood and oxygen supply to the brain is cut off, due to which the animal becomes unconscious within a few seconds.
Subhan Allah! The animal's body continues to exist until the end of its life without feeling pain. The pituitary gland in the brain sends a message to the adrenal glands through the spinal cord, which results in the release of adrenaline. This hormone tries to bring blood to the brain, but the brain is the first organ to be cut off from the blood supply and all involuntary functions stop.
As a result of this process, almost all the blood in the body is removed, which cleanses the body. If this blood remains in the body, it can cause various diseases.
Thus, the Islamic method of slaughter proves to be faster, more merciful and less painful.
