The Secret of the Silent Room

The Secret of the Silent Room

There was a deserted mansion in an old and haunted area of the city. This mansion became a center of fear when its last owner, a wealthy and eccentric artist Mr. Zahid, mysteriously disappeared. The police found only one thing: his personal study room, called the "Silent Room", was completely locked from the inside.

Investigating officer Inspector Adnan arrived at the mansion to solve the case. Zahid's disappearance was a puzzle.

* The door of the room was locked from the inside and the windows were also tightly connected. There was no other way out or secret tunnel in the room. This room was completely sealed.

Inspector Adnan broke down the door and entered. The room was completely fine, except for Zahid's expensive phone, which was charging, on the table in the middle, and a small, empty wooden box was placed next to it.

The police examined the phone. Just five minutes before he disappeared, Zahid had sent a text message to one of his employees, which contained only three words: "Key, skin, white."

Inspector Adnan questioned the employee, but the employee said he did not know the meaning of these words. He added that Zahid was part of a secret society and that he felt that someone was after his life.

Inspector Adnan pondered the mystery of this locked room all night. If both the door and the windows were locked from the inside, how did Zahid get out? And why did he write these three words?

The next morning, he returned to the mansion. This time, he looked closely at everything in the "silent room":

* "White": A huge white canvas was leaning against the wall in the room. When Adnan turned it over, there was nothing on it.

* "Skin": He tapped the walls of the room. In one place, the sound felt hollow. It was actually a large bookshelf mounted on the wall.

 * "Key": Looking closely at the empty box on the table, Adnan remembered that Zahid had once proudly shown it to him, saying that it held his "key to freedom."

Adnan pushed the shelf aside; behind it was a small secret space. In that space was a small earthenware pot with a silver key in it. The key was hidden in such a way that if Zahid's captors came in, they would never find it.

A thrilling revelation

Now that he had found the key, he was looking for a way out. He looked back at the white canvas. It was completely clear.

"White." Inspector Adnan's eyes sparkled.

"If someone were to lock the room from the inside and then leave, they would have to use some mechanism to automatically close the door before they could leave."

He looked back at his phone, which was charging.

 * Zahid sent a text to the employee ( "Key, skin, white").

* Zahid took out the key from the secret place (in skin).

* Zahid went out.

But how was the door locked?

Inspector Adnan lifted the white canvas and looked inside its frame. There was a thin rope tied there, which passed through a hole in the wall behind the canvas and was tied to the door handle.

Fact:

Mr. Zahid was in danger from a dangerous secret society. To escape, he connected the door handle to the white canvas with a secret rope. As soon as he got out and closed the door, the rope loosened a little, and he jerked the canvas, causing the door latch to automatically engage from the inside. Thus, the room was locked from the inside and it seemed as if Zahid was still inside. That white canvas was a dummy locking device.

Inspector Adnan looked at the recovered key, it was the key to a secret tunnel in the garden of the mansion. Mr. Zahid adopted a self-sealing method to convince investigators that he was inside the room.
