The absconding accused Imran alias Mani in the case of robbing a gold merchant in Abbottabad has been arrested by the Cantt Police.


 The absconding accused Imran alias Mani in the case of robbing a gold merchant in Abbottabad has been arrested by the Cantt Police. After being found guilty in the case, the Additional Sessions Judge had sentenced the remaining accused. Imran alias Mani had become absconding and was arrested by the Lahore Police in a case, so the Cantt Police transferred him from Lahore to Abbottabad. In the year 2014, gold worth crores of rupees was looted from gold merchants in Abbottabad. One of them, Bilal son of Muhammad Inam, a resident of Korangi, Karachi, snatched two and a half kilograms of gold worth Rs 15 lakh and Rs 2.5 lakh in cash at gunpoint by two motorcyclists.  While some time after this incident, two grams of gold and four lakh rupees in cash were snatched at gunpoint by the said motorcyclists from a gold merchant Javed, a resident of Multan. A case of these robberies was registered in Cantt Police Station under Section (3) 17 and 412 PPL in Case No. 220 of March 2015. After the above incidents, the police conducted an undercover investigation day and night. Some time after the incidents, Imran alias Mani, who worked at a jeweler's shop, bought five vehicles worth six lakh rupees. When the police conducted an undercover investigation, it was found that Imran alias Mani could not buy such expensive vehicles. After which Imran alias Mani was arrested and interrogated, he confessed to all the incidents and said that he used to give information about gold merchants to his two cousins, Muhammad Ayaz son of Muhammad Gulzar, resident of Sethi Masjid, and Tanveer Gul son of Azizur Rahman, resident of Al-Noor Chowk.  After which Muhammad Ayaz and Tanveer Gul went to the said merchant and robbed him at gunpoint. And with this money they had bought vehicles. The police have also seized all the vehicles and motorcycles on the identification of the accused. Two thirty-bore pistols have also been recovered from the accused. A case has been registered against the arrested accused under Sections 17, 3, Haraba/412 PPC. The police recovered 310 grams of gold on the identification of Imran alias Mani. In addition, 50 tolas of gold from the looted gold was also recovered from the money changers of Rawalpindi Saddar and Raja Bazaar. The challan of this case was completed and presented in the court. In July 2015, the Sessions Judge Abbottabad released all the arrested accused on bail. Some time after being released on bail, Imran alias Mani absconded.  After hearing the case in the court and the final arguments of the lawyers, Additional Sessions Judge VI, while pronouncing the verdict, sentenced Tanveer Gul and Azizur Rehman to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment under Section 3/17, a fine of Rs. 200,000 each, and 10 to 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 10,000 each under Section 412. The accused were also sentenced under Section 15WA for the crime of illegal possession of weapons. The court had issued permanent arrest warrants for the absconding Imran alias Mani, son of Parvez, resident of Mirpur, involved in the robbery. The accused was absconding. The Lahore police arrested him yesterday in a case, after which the Cantt Police reached Lahore and arrested the accused Imran Mani and shifted him to the Cantt Police Station in Abbottabad.
